Returned 4th July from an amazing holiday. Views spectacular, food excellent, cleanliness superb. However, what lifts this Hotel above others is the staff who without exception ensure that you have the most fantastic holiday whatever your needs. Special thanks to Pepe and Claudio together with gennaro, Davidge and Antonio who were always most helpful and good-humoured.
This is the ninth time visting this hotel, and I must say the standard is still superb . The staff couldn't do enough for us. We have stayed in two other hotels in the past over 12 years but we always return to the grand riviera. Claudio is a very special man very professional but so friendly.
The management upgrade the hotel every year, so the standards never drop. The food in the hotel is excellent plenty of choice.I would like to say a big thanks to all the staff for another memorable visit.
We have just come back from a wonderful week at this hotel. The staff in reception, concierge, dining room staff, pool staff and the sun deck staff, were all very friendly, helpful, in fact they couldn't do enough for us!
We went on a half board basis and were a little apprehensive about doing this due to bad food experiences at other hotels in the past, but the food was fabulous. There were four courses every evening, each night the courses were different. We never made the dessert as we were too full.
We had a sea view room and the view was breathtaking. We could see both Mount Vesuvius and the Isle of Ischia from our balcony.
We would recommend paying for either a sea view room or side sea view as these are away from any potential road noise.
The hotel is about a 15 minute stroll to the centre of Sorrento and about 20 minutes to the Marina Piccola, where you can get ferries to Capri, Positano and Amalfi. We did the Positano trip and it was wonderful.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families with small children, as there is no beach, just a bathing platform and you access the sea via ladders down to it. The hotel pool did however have a toddlers pool.
The only minor complaint we had was that our room was directly below the restaurant and every morning at around 7am when the restaurant opened for breakfast, we could here the sound of chairs being dragged along, but as we are early risers it didn't bother us too much.
This is our first holiday in Sorrento but we will definitely be going back next year. Many thanks to all the staff at the Grand hotel Riviera, for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable.
This is a beautiful hotel, we have just returned from a 2 week stay, and already want to return. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the hotel staff , they all knew our young daughter by name and made her feel very special , restaurant staff Giovanni, Sonia and Giovanna , always made a big fuss of her ...but every staff member is exceptional. We had a junior suite , it had the most amazing view across the bay of Naples, it was a very large and spacious room, and cleaned to a high standard. As for the food, its fantastic , so much choice on the menu every evening, served by attentive staff. We have been to Sorrento on previous occasions , and this is by far the best hotel that we have stayed in , both for location and standard of service provided.
OMG..... What a beautiful Hotel and location.
When we first arrived to The Grand Hotel Riviera, we were greeted very warmly. My belief is, first impressions count.
We checked in and were escorted to our room. What an amazing experience.
We had our own balcony looking over the ocean.
The beds were very comfortable but what I liked most was the spaciousness of the room. The bathroom was a decent size as well.
The next morning we woke up to a huge cruise liner right outside our balcony!! OMG what a beautiful sight. But as we stayed here for a week we had yachts, large private crushers and ocean liners parked right outside our balcony. What more could you want.
It happens to be my birthday while I was there and the "Concierge" gave me a beautiful painting of the hotel for me to take home. A wonderful momentous of an unforgettable trip.
I am certainly coming back to "Sorrento" in the near future and I will decently stay there again.
From the minute we walked into the hotel reception we knew we had made the right choice. The staff were so friendly and genuinely pleased to see us. They knew us by name and were expecting us. The hotel was in an amazing position on the cliff edge with magnificent views across the the bay of Naples and looking across to Vesuvius and Pompeii. The rooms were excellent and very clean. Ours had a beautiful big window and private balcony overlooking the sea. The food and service was very good. There was an amazing lift set inside the cliff and exited in a cave at the bottom giving you access to the private beach area. This was a really nice quiet relaxing area and has towels, beds and a bar. It was a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Sorrento where there are a massive selection of bars, restaurants and shops. The ferry over to Capri is close too. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. We would strongly recommend it.
